Nigerian Soccer Star, Christian Obodo, Kidnapped
Sat Jun, 09 2012

Super Eagles midfielder, Christian Obodo was this morning abducted by gunmen.

Obodo was reportedly seized at about 9.20am in front of the Zion Ministry Church located on New Layout Road, off Jakpa Road, Effurun in Warri, Delta State.

The Udinese playmaker, who played for the relegated Lecce in the Italian Serie A last season, arrived the country a few weeks ago after the conclusion of the season.

According to an eyewitness account Obodo's car with a special registration number tag 'Obodo 5', was stopped and the abductors took him away in another vehicle.

'The abductors took the ex-super Eagles midfielder  away in their own vehicle, which they had used in tailing the footballer.

The 28-year-old, was said to have went clubbing on Friday night in the same vehicle in Warri before his kidnap on Saturday.

"Yes he has been kidnapped," a Delta state official who didn't want his name in print said, "The details are still sketchy but I was told he was on his way to church this (Saturday) morning with his car that has registration number 'Obodo 5.'"

"Apparently his car's registration may have attracted his kidnappers because he went clubbing last (Friday) night in the same car."

The official also said the kidnappers are yet to get in touch with any of the player's relatives or friends and the player's whereabouts remain unknown.

please my dear, fellow Nigerian in as much as we want our country(Nigeria) to be the best in the entire continent, you must adhere to this my humble advice.first,we must change our mindset towards the president knowing fully well that he is also a human just like you and i, we must come together as one and learn how to appreciate the little once he has done. come to think of this, how many times have you knelt down and pray to God on his behalf? can you remember? with respect to his Excellence late Dr. Ben Zik, he says "never you think of what your country will do for you, but rather, always think of what you will do to the benefit of your country".Remember on the day of election it was you and i that voted for him, we are the one that put him in that office why complaining now? we must stop criticizing him for the gross eels that is tying our beloved country down.well,"cetris paribus " divided we fall, united we stand, one Nigeria one love!!!!!!!

Solomon, faith without is nonsense! You can't sit and fold up your hand and wait for miracle to happen. Nigerian should stop corrupt people to run the country. Before someone should be given a seat in government, there should be checks. Track history of the person, right from primary school level to the present work and if he can be trusted. You can't rule the country if you can't past common IQ test. you can't be a police if you cannot be trusted. Nigerian police is among kidnappers squad. my friend who was kidnapped last year told me that a police man from delta state was among the people that kidnapped him. the police man always use his ID card to pass police check point whenever they are carry out the wicked act. Nigeria police officer should be poisoned and shamed, whenever they are cut on evil act. I believe Nigeria president have a big role to play. He should start by making sure that anyone with big amount of money in his/her account should give account of the money, how he/she

Yes. That is what Nigeria is known for. Big for all bad things. Boko Haram killing is Churches, Market Etc. Kidnapping s everywhere, Bribery all the time even within Govt Offices. Worst is the bribery and extortion of money at the international airports. Goodluck or Badluck knows about it. Shame on the so-called goodluck or badluck or whatever he calls himself. Please can South Africa, Ghana, Cameroun or even Togo and Sudan come and buy Nigeria so the Corruption and bribery be wiped away. Pls can someone tell me when Jonathan Badluck is going out of office? I wish is today.
