At least ten people were killed when a cargo plane that crash landed on a street close to the international airport in Ghana's capital Accra hit a mini van full of passengers on Saturday, reports quoting officials said.
All the four crew members survived the crash of the Boeing 727 Allied Air plane that flew in from Lagos, Nigeria.
In a statement the airport authorities said the aircraft overshot the runway and collided with a mini-van, resulting in the death of ten passengers. The injured crew received treatment at an airport clinic, the statement added.
Ghana's Vice-President John Dramani Mahama told reporters that a thorough investigation would be carried out. "No early conclusions should be drawn. We should allow investigations to arrive at the actual cause," he added.
The accident did not cause any disruption in the operation of flights from Accra's Kotoka international airport, airport authorities said.
