Court Summons Ali, George Over Contempt

AN Ikeja, Lagos State High Court has summoned the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmadu Ali , the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Olabode George and four others to appear before it today for contempt of court.

Also, a faction of the party in Lagos State has instituted a legal action restraining the new executive members of the party from parading themselves as officials of the party .

The summon, dated March 4, 2008, was based on the a case filed by one Engineer Oladele Oni and others, in which Senator Ali ,Chief George and four others were accused of disobeying a court order and failure to appear before the court.

The summon reads thus: “This honourable court will be moved on Friday March 7, 2008 at 9 O’clock in the morning or so soon thereafter as counsel may be heard on behalf of the claimant\applicant praying this honourable court for an order for the committal to prison of the respondents listed below for having disobeyed the orders of this honourable court made on the November 2 and 8, 2007.”
