Ademola Seriki: Letter To Acting President Goodluck Jonathan
Fri Mar, 19 2010

By Uche Honnah

Dear Mr. Acting President,

Thank you for your decision to bring back some discipline into the governance of our great nation by your decision to start all over and pick a cabinet that will not only be loyal to you but will also be professional and dedicated to serving Nigeria.

This letter is intended to vouch for and draw your attention to Hon. Ademola R Seriki, the former Minister of State for Interior. I reside in the United States and was very proud of the way he handled our situation when he visited in January this year. The humility and dedication to duty of the minister amazed most of us living here in the United States. Let me plead that this man be given the opportunity to continue serving our nation.

Why do I recommend Hon. Seriki? Everyone recalls the blizzard this year during which the whole of the east coast of the US was paralyzed. In the middle of one of this winter storms, the former minister drove for almost six hours under very dangerous conditions just because he had promised to keep an appointment with Nigerians based in Maryland and Washington DC.

At first no one believed that he would risk the weather just to keep an appointment with us because that was not our experience with Nigerian “big men”. To compound matters, he agreed to grant us an interview on short notice and we became convinced after our discussion that this was a man who had the interest of his country at heart and is willing to go to great lengths through leadership by example.

When asked during our conversation why he drove all that way in such bad weather he said that he made a promise and he does not break his promises. That sold me on the man.

The former minister did not only stop in Washington DC/Maryland, he travelled all over the US to make sure that the process is put in place to make it easier for Nigerians to obtain the new e-passport. This has indeed made life easier for a lot of us in the US and we are indeed grateful.

My name is Uche Honnah and I am the national president of the Anioma Association, USA. I believe you will be doing the right thing by retaining Hon. Ademola Seriki.

Your humble servant,

Uche Honnah

Hello Mr. Uche Honnah If keeping ONE appointment as scheduled is all it takes to convince a man in your position of a public servants efficiency, then Heh! Heh!! Heh!!... for Nigeria. Public servants in country where you live do this on a daily bases. Why are we making a demigod out of these guys? Do you think Goodluck Joe is not smart enough to make judgment of who fits in with his cabinet? Na waaa for you oooo

I have never seen this type of shameless behaviour in my life. How low can Demola stoop to remain in Govt. His being a Minister in the first place was just a mistake or should we say an act of God. People like him should not even been seen in Abuja or Lagos, if we had credible system of checking backgrounds of people, before they are given any appointment, Demola will not qualify to be near any office at all. Let him just go and spend the money he has made so far.We will see how long it will last.

Mr President, let me start by commending you first off for taking the tremendous initiatives you have taken in the short time you have assumed office. Coming in like a lion and taking charge. That is the stuff great nations are made of. Now, I don't know who this Seriki or Seraki person is, I kinna left Nigeria when Shagiri was in power and since really haven't kept up with all the shinanighans going on in that country. My main plea is for the EVC of NCC Ernest Ndukwe. That man has done so many great things for the NCC and continues to do so; it will be very wrong and illegal for those hausa illitrates to force him out of office just so they can go in and sqauander the wealth he's acquired for that office. If there's such a thing as integrity, honesty, hard work and creative vision, that man possesses them in abundance. Let him continue to serve his nation until he himself is good and ready to retire. Before people go thinking I know the man or that I have been promised some contract,

Ademola Seriki is one of those new breed politicians that want to make a difference in peoples life. As a Lagosian like me, I have been wacthing him closely, he might not be a savy politician but I am sure he will serve the people well. He should be re appointed. I am not a friend of his but have known about him from his student days in in U.S.A and his idology. He loves life and has a good heart and loyal to his cause. We need more brave young men like him in politics.

Mr President Uche Honnah,Head of USA Aniomah Association, thanks for your reccomendation of Mr Seriki. What he did in America, if he had done such in Nigeria, he would have been eligible for a re-appointment. He was a tin-god in Nigeria, absolutely a Mr Nobody to us all. You only saw a part of him, not his whole self. Let him go and enjoy his ill-gotten wealth. SEREKETE is a failure!

Mr Uche Honnah Why the request, how much did he pay to you to write the letter? Did he award you contract that is still ungoing and his exit from office may give you out? Any other honesty person can do what he did. There are other responsible and highly resourceful and educated Nigerians out there. Please no sentiments. Let us all move Nigeria forward.
