SSS Quizzes Tunde Bakare Over Church Sermon
Tue Jul, 24 2012

Men of the Lagos State office of the State Security Service (SSS), yesterday, invited Lagos clergyman/politician, Pastor Tunde Bakare to their office over his recent church sermon during which he urged President Goodluck Jonathan to resign from office.

He has since been released after an interview session, which sources said lasted for about 70 minutes yesterday after which he was asked "to slow things down and mind his choice of words".

Bakare had, on Sunday, while delivering a sermon titled "How to change governments peacefully and make society better" stated that the country had not fared well under the leadership of President Jonathan and that he might not complete his tenure expected to lapse in 2015.

Sources close to him said that the SSS had asked him to report at their office by 2pm but he reportedly pleaded to honour the invitation by 4pm as he would be busy with some church activities at about that time.

He later honoured the invitation alongside some members of the Save Nigeria Group (SNG), arriving at the SSS office at few minutes before 4pm after which he was ushered into the office of the state director who took him on some of contents of his latest sermon.

Though efforts to get the pastor yielded little fruits as his phone was switched off but a close confidant told LEADERSHIP in a telephone chat that the agency "Invited him to clarify some things in the said sermon regarding the reported quotes where he (Bakare) stated that the president will not be in office till 2015."

According to the source, the operatives wanted him to state what he meant by the statement upon which he replied that President Jonathan could be impeached.
