I’m Not Aspiring to Senate- Governor Idris
Sun Oct, 24 2010

By Peter Obiora

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has denied knowledge of posters that recently flooded Lokoja, the Kogi State capital which purportedly portrayed the governor as seeking the Kogi East Senatorial ticket of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

The Governor who reacted to the development through the Kogi State Director - General, Press Affairs, Richard Elesho, said the pasting of the poster insinuating his aspiration for Senate seat without his knowledge was the handy work of his political detractors.

The Governor’s posters, which indicated that he is aspiring to the Senate had been circulated and pasted in some section of Lokoja at the weekend.

“The evil scheme is the hand work of my political detractors and avowed traducers, who are eager to bring my name to public ridicule”.

“I do not have ambition for any elective office in the land. Nigerian society is blessed with enough talented youths who can pilot its affairs while the elders have their deserved rest”, he said.

Governor Idris assures that he is determined to protect his four years mandate and to ensure that the dividends of democracy go across the length and breadth of the state.
